Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program
The Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program (AHYD) is POPCOM’s response to the growing awareness worldwide on the reproductive health issues and concerns of the youth and their significant contribution to future population and health trends.
Projects conducted under the AHYD include media outreach, skills training and enhancement programs, peer counselling, and support to other youth programs and projects.
1. Reduce the incidence of pregnancy among 15-19 age group
2. Reduce the incidence of early sexual involvement and early marriages
3. Reduce the incidence of other reproductive health problems that includes sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS, particularly the reduction of HIV positive cases among young males; and
4. Reduce the incidence of physical and sexual violence and other forms of violence among the young people, particularly among married young females ages 15-24
